#DRRLive: The 2015 Landmark Agreements - Building a Gender-Inclusive Path for Implementation

Upload your content
Format
In person
Venue
UN Women offices, 220 East 42nd Street, NYC
Date

This event will explore the role of gender and specifically the empowerment of women and girls within the major international agreements within the United Nations system (The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Sustainable Development Goals, the Financing for Development agreement and the Paris Climate Change Agreements) which were agreed during 2015. All of the agreements listed the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls as a key requirement of their success.

As such, we will examine how this extraordinary recognition provides a number of opportunities for humanitarian and development organisations and professionals to build on work carried out over previous agreements within those four areas.  It will also try to answer some of the questions these agreements have raised on how we reach these ambitious outcomes without adding further complexity to our sector.

What's Included

Each of the four landmark agreements will have a high-profile panellist to introduce the range of ideas, challenges and opportunities specific to that area. These presentations will then be used as the base for a wider, audience-led discussion and debate on how our community can implement the frameworks and achieve these vital goals. Details of the four panellists will be announced shortly.

The event will be live-streamed, recorded and make use of social media for external audience engagement.
