RICS World Built Environment Forum: 2017 Annual Summit
At the RICS World Built Environment Forum Annual Summit, held 27-28 March in Shanghai, the 100 Resilient Cities campaign will host a panel discussion with leading experts and Chief Resilience Officers from around the region to discuss how to motivate cities and built environment partners to invest in doing things differently.
Background
Massive infrastructure investment demands represent a rare opportunity to rethink our approach and to build resilience into the heart of our cities. Urban resilience is about recognising challenges such as earthquakes, floods, disease outbreaks, terrorist attacks, high unemployment and chronic food and water shortages, and building in opportunities to withstand the growing shocks and stresses of the 21st century.
But building resilience demands cities take a new approach. Cities are investing in Chief Resilience Officers to help steer rapidly urbanising centres towards infrastructure investments that address multiple challenges.
About the event
The World Built Environment Forum is a global network of built environment professionals and their stakeholders aimed at combining knowledge, skills and resources to create and manage the built environment that global populations need. The Annual Summit offers a regular meeting place for the World Built Environment Forum to discuss the most pressing challenges and identify practical solutions, and to network with international peers.
