2nd Training Course on Disaster Resilience Leadership
Course objectives
At the end of this five-day course, participants should be able to:

Explain key DRR concepts, frameworks for risk-informed sustainable development, and need for leadership in strengthening disaster resilience

Identify and explain the concept of disaster resilience, and leadership in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation

Describe the core skills of disaster resilience leadership and approaches for promoting leadership in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery
-
Identify initiatives and good practices in disaster resilience leadership that are sustainable and replicable in other contexts
Course contents
In order to achieve the objectives, the course will have the following modules:
Module: Developing and Strengthening DRR Fundamentals
This module introduces participants to the DRR concepts and frameworks for risk-informed sustainable development (i.e., Sendai Framework for DRR, Agenda for Sustainable Development, Paris Agreement, and New Urban Agenda), key priorities of DRR requiring leadership support, and enabling environment for building disaster resilience leadership.
Module: Understanding Leadership in Disaster Resilience
This module offers the key concept of disaster resilience, and organize for disaster resilience. It also aims to develop participants knowledge and understanding on the leadership in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
Module: Promoting Leadership in Disaster Risk Reduction
This module aims to raise participants’ knowledge and understanding on the core skills and approaches for developing disaster resilience leadership in disaster response, incident command systems, community level risk identification and awareness raising, and women leadership in disaster risk reduction, disaster recovery, including youth leadership in the disaster recovery. It also offers opportunity to participants by gaining practical knowledge from field visit and hand-on experience by working in scenario-based group work. Finally, this module also share with participants the good practices in disaster resilience leadership that are sustainable and replicable in other contexts.
Target participants
This course is designed for DRR practitioners occupying management and executive positions. Apart from the government, it is strongly encouraged that participants from the private sector and media attend this training.
Course fee
The standard course fee of USD1,700 covers course tuition, registration fee, training materials, study visit, and training kit.
Participants will be responsible for their own travel expenses and arrangements, accommodation, airport transfers, visa application, all meals, health and accident insurance, and other personal expenses.
