Introduction

Both Boskalis and Wetlands International are recruiting positions to help mobilize this ambitious joint program, complementing the existing team.

Boskalis and Wetlands International are both active in a network of international public and private partners in the framework of the global Building with Nature innovation program are currently developing Building with Nature Asia. This is a groundbreaking 10-year initiative that promotes large-scale adoption of nature-based solutions in water engineering across Asia, focusing on both rural and urban environments. With governmental partners from 5 target countries we are developing dedicated national programmes as well as regional thematic work packages on science, policy, communications and capacity building. The initiative addresses barriers to adoption of nature-based solutions and stimulates multi-billion Euro investment in tangible landscape-scale propositions for Building with Nature.

The position of Program Development Coordinator Building with Nature Asia is established in tandem with a Program developer that will be hired by our corporate partner Wetlands International. This set up offers a unique opportunity to build out a public-private initiative, by connecting NGO and corporate environments and strengthening the institutional partnership that was established between Boskalis and Wetlands International in 2020.

How you can make your mark

The Medior Program Development Coordinator Building with Nature Asia will contribute to establishing an enabling environment for investment in Nature-based Solutions for water related infrastructure in Asia. You will support the coordination of the partnership, including support of the country teams in dialogues, the development of business cases and investment propositions, writing project proposals for grants and investments and implementation of successful Building with Nature projects.

Your responsibilities as Medior Program Development Coordinator Building with Nature Asia are:

• Coordinating teams meetings, workshops and interactive sessions to ensure alignment with and guidance of country and thematic teams.
• Facilitating consultation with and engagement of country teams.
• Coordinating the development of Building with Nature as a regionally driven initiative, nurturing the building of leadership, management and technical capacities in the target region.

Building with Nature Business development and implementation:

• Identifying and tracks market developments regarding infrastructure investment in Asia.
• Identifying approaches for cost-benefit assessment, business case development for nature-based solutions and designs innovative mechanisms that stimulate market uptake (taxing, blended public-private financing models, insurance).
• Providing guidance and training to country teams involved in the development of the Building with Nature Asia program on business cases.

Your qualities

You can make your mark as Program Development Coordinator Building with Nature Asia if you are a creative, out-of-the box thinker, with a hands on mentality. You have a track record in the field(s) of water engineering and project financing, and practical experience with on-the-ground implementation of nature-based infrastructure projects. You are able to facilitate strategic and operational programming, working with multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural and multi-partner teams. You are able to navigate complex pathways between different sectors and align partner and stakeholder perspectives across disciplines. You have affinity with business development.   

Essential Skills and experience

• A MSc qualification in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. geography, environmental science/management, engineering, sustainable development).
• At least 5 years experience in business case development for infrastructure scope, and development of public-private programmes.
• Confident communicator and advocate who can pitch the right message to different target audiences.
• Extensive network amongst public and private institutions involved in the domain of nature-based solutions.
• A good command of written and spoken English (essential: written, oral and presentation) or one or more of the languages in the target countries (China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and the  Philippines).
• Prior involvement in one of the leading networks involved in the promotion of Building with Nature (EcoShape, Working with Nature, Engineering with Nature, Nature-based Solutions).
