The Cluster Financial System Development, Insurance and Sustainable Finance (FSEI) bundles various initiatives i.e. Sector Projects with a focus on advising the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), as well as projects with the private sector and international initiatives in the financial sector. The thematic breadth of this cluster in the Economic, Social and Digitalization Division ranges from issues of access to financial services, Small and Medium Enterprises finance and insurance, risk management and sustainable finance, to financial sector stability with a focus on regulatory and supervisory frameworks in emerging and developing countries. In addition to providing technical advice to the BMZ, the aim is to develop innovative approaches and concepts for the financial sector that are implemented in programs in GIZ partner countries and expand GIZ's range of services. In this context, the technical dialogue with international development cooperation partners, private companies, scientific institutions and global initiatives is just as important as the exchange with actors within German development cooperation. The programs in the FSEI cluster work closely together, maintain an intensive exchange of expertise, and use synergies - both within the cluster and with other organizational units of GIZ.
