Acting before crises hit: Anticipatory action and the private sector (CBi Annual Event)
Time
12:00 - 13:30 CET
About
There is growing evidence that acting prior to the onset of a predictable shock is significantly faster, more dignified and more effective than traditional humanitarian response. Many disasters cannot only be predicted, but their projected humanitarian impact can be proactively mitigated based on pre-identified anticipatory actions. While the humanitarian community is quickly moving to increase the use of anticipatory action, much more can be done.
Join speakers from OCHA, the Anticipation Hub, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation to discuss the role of the private sector in promoting and implementing anticipatory humanitarian action.
