GeoHazards International (GHI) seeks to hire a full-time Project Manager. We are a nonprofit organization with the mission to save lives by empowering at-risk communities worldwide to build resilience ahead of disasters and climate impacts. We address earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, and climate-induced hazards.

The Project Manager will join our diverse technical team, which includes staff in six countries, and will report to GHI’s Chief Operating Officer. Work is typically virtual, and requires schedule flexibility as well as occasional travel to headquarters and project locations. Salary depends on qualifications, experience, and location. Preferred start is November 2022, but is flexible if needed.

The human toll per disaster is highest in low- and middle-income countries, which have limited resources to mitigate risk. Women, children, and elders are also disproportionately affected. GeoHazards International’s work aims to close these gaps, so that all people can stay safe when a hazard event strikes. The Project Manager will represent GHI in the U.S. and abroad, and will align with the way we work:

  • Stay ahead of disasters. We champion a safer future for all, in which people are better protected and prepared.
  • Connect leaders with expertise. Our expert teams advise decision makers as they anticipate and tackle disaster threats.
  • Advance local capabilities. We equip people across the community spectrum to sustain and scale safer practices.
  • Consider the social context. We engage diverse voices to bring about inclusive, lasting solutions.
  • Communicate and inspire. We share information in a way that is clear, relevant to daily life, and actionable.
  • Cultivate trust. Local team members invest in community relationships, which enables steady progress.

GeoHazards International is a rewarding and fascinating place to work. Our diverse, multi-disciplinary global staff are passionately committed to the mission. Our Board of Trustees is accomplished and engaged. Founded in 1991, we have worked with communities in more than 30 countries. Our headquarters is in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Field offices are in the Caribbean (Haiti, Dominican Republic) and South Asia (India, Nepal, Bhutan). We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a 5-star gold rating from GuideStar.
