The increasing of risks that affect Portuguese society, both in number and in severity, together with the lack of a culture of prevention and safety, has led a group of Portuguese citizens who have long been concerned with minimizing the consequences of the risks manifestations, to set up a private, non-profit association that could bring together all those who share these concerns, and which they called RISCOS - Portuguese Association of Risks, Prevention and Security, because they are aware of their individual responsibilities, as active members of that society. RISCOS therefore intends to bring together citizens and institutions that, in Portugal, have responsibilities in risk management, from prevention to the rehabilitation of the areas affected by them, or that ensure the safety of people and their assets.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
