To improve the quality of life of the citizens or members of communities, SDI takes a holistic approach to understanding the myriad of sustainability and resiliency issues and their interdependencies, faced by communities by build bridges for Collaboration, Communication and Empowerment. We focus on understanding where they are now and where they want to be, conducting gap analyses, and formulating proactive and collaborative approaches to build bridges for filling in the gaps in addressing community issues and challenges. We accomplish these objectives through our SMART Framework.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
