Disaster Risk Reduction unit in Natural Science sector of UNESCO (SC/DRR) is seeking a talented Project Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for communication and a track record of delivering effective and engaging communications to a range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft effective communication strategies to support SC/DRR Team 's goals
  • Update SC/DRR's website and social media presence
  • Write, edit, and translate a variety of materials, including articles, speeches and presentations
  • Collaborate with the science sector's communication team to ensure a consistent and cohesive organizational message
  • Assist communications with Field Offices on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation
  • Take any other relevant initiatives in accordance with UNESCO's communication rules to help promote SC/DRR’s team's activities

Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in disaster management, climate change adaptation or other related fields
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French
  • Experience using digital communication tools and platforms, such as website content management systems and social media platforms
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
