Calm before the storm: Anticipatory action strengthens disaster risk management in the Philippines
This is part of six case studies from Philippines that was derived from the 2022 Decentralized Evaluation under the theme of Country Capacity Strengthening (CCS) and aims to tell the Philippines CCS story in line with WFPs Changing Lives Agenda. A combination of floods, droughts, typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes, coupled with limited coping and adaptive capacities, led the Philippines to be ranked as the most riskvulnerable country in the world by the World Risk Report 2022.
Capacity Strengthening constitutes a large part of programme and supply chain implementation in the Philippines as demonstrated through Country Strategy Programme’s over the last decade and beyond.
