The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is the State of California's agency responsible for fire protection in State Responsibility Areas of California, as well as the administration of the state's private and public forests. The Department also provides various emergency services in 36 of the State's 58 counties via contracts with local governments. It is often called the California Department of Forestry, which was the name of the department before the 1990s.

The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
