The geography of future climate risk
This interactive online publication presents the first comprehensive climate ranking of all Norwegian municipalities by the Norwegian Research Centre on Sustainable Climate Change Adaptation (NORADAPT). NORADAPT have gathered data on expected climate and societal changes, and compared these data with actions the municipalities are taking to adapt to climate change. This gives a picture of the total climate risk for Norwegian municipalities in the future.
The ranking consists of 12 indicators: four indicators for different ways a municipality is prone to climate hazards, four indicators for different ways a municipality is vulnerable to climate change and four indicators for different ways a municipality is adapting to climate change. The county that stands out with the greatest effort on adaptation is Oslo. Oslo is less than average exposed to climate change among Norwegian counties. Viken is the county that on average is the least exposed. Four counties represent the area that is "Most exposed - least effort". Troms and Finnmark stand out in that municipalities here on average are among the most vulnerable and have made the least effort.
