Strengthening disaster risk management in climate resilience action
This study on disaster risk management (DRM) is part of the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience's (PPCR) Knowledge for Resilience series, and it is informed, in its design and layout, by previously published studies. The study is based on a desk review of PPCR and Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) project documents and other literature. The study seeks to collect, synthesize, and highlight key results and lessons from Climate Investment Funds (CIF) experience, and consider how to advance and further strengthen DRM through climate resilience action and as part of a more integrated approach to the world’s complex risk landscape.
The review highlights the importance of investing in integrated solutions which befits the integrated nature of the challenges. Furthermore, it is crucial to learn from the CIF experience as it moves toward transformational resilience. Reflections distilled in this study may be of great value to the countries and regions featured; to CIF, in terms of its existing and new programs, such as the Nature, People & Climate (NPC) Investment Program; as well as to other climate funds, multilateral development banks (MDBs), and development practitioners.
