This is a vibrant workshop and training for youth and young professionals engaging in knowledge exchange, capacity building, and networking opportunities to address the inequalities that the Youth and Young Career Professionals faced in today’s world, especially in Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation for Disaster Risk Reduction.
Inequality casts a long shadow, impacting the lives of young men and women within their own nations and on the global stage. This disparity directly fuels unemployment rates, particularly among the vibrant youth populations in low-income, emerging, and developing countries. In the field of Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (SETI), aspiring young professionals, especially those dedicated to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), often find themselves navigating a landscape marked by limited opportunities for growth and development both nationally and internationally. The voices and perspectives of these talented individuals frequently go unheard, as decision-makers fail to prioritize their invaluable contributions. Building on the successes achieved at the First Regional Workshop on Youth and Young professionals in Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation for Disaster Risk Reduction (YYPs in SETI for DRR) in Jakarta in 2018, which led to the creation of the U-INSPIRE* platforms in 14 countries, and The Second International Workshop in Chengdu, China in 2019, that further shaped the design of the U-INSPIRE Alliance, this year UNESCO, BRIN**, and U-INSPIRE Alliance are joining forces to commence The Third International Workshop on YYPs in SETI for DRR.
