The EMERGEO working group deals with the survey of surface coseismic geological effects produced by earthquakes and tsunamis on the natural environment in Italy and the Mediterranean area. Emergeo activates in concert with the other INGV emergency groups in the hours immediately following the event by sending teams of expert personnel who search the epicentral area, or the coastal areas in the event of a tsunami, and transmit the information to the headquarters. The most common coseismic effects are surface faulting, fracturing, liquefaction, landslides and collapses, while as regards tsunamis the effects are linked to the transport and deposition of sediments in coastal areas, both on land and at sea, and to the modeling/modification of shapes geomorphological.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
