Westmoreland Parish disaster risk management plan
Westmoreland like the rest of the island of Jamaica is highly vulnerable to natural and socio-technical disasters which can be triggered by a plethora of hazards. It is important that the parish be organized to ensure a level of disaster risk management at the local levels that will provide for the safety and security of the citizenry irrespective of any outside intervention
The Westmoreland Disaster Risk Management Plan is intended to serve as the guiding document for the parish of Westmoreland in the preparation for, response to, and recovery from any adverse event threatening the parish or which has impacted the parish. The plan is based on Jamaica’s policy approach to disaster risk management. As such, the plan adheres to the national policy of comprehensive disaster risk management and a multi-sectorial approach to managing adverse events (emergencies, crises and disasters) at parish level.
