Guidelines for climate-resilient, gender-responsive, and socially inclusive public open spaces in Bangladesh
These guidelines aim to equip local governments in Bangladesh with concepts and tools to create and maintain climate-resilient, gender-responsive, and socially inclusive public open spaces in cities and towns.
The guidelines are structured as a process and include five stages:
(i) Prioritize a public open space and prepare by strengthening the pourashavas team and creating a communications and engagement strategy.
(ii) Assess the public open space using participatory tools.
(iii) Create the concept plan, obtain feedback, and test with tactical trials.
(iv) Implement the design, identify the modality, obtain approvals from government departments, and prepare contract documents.
(v) Manage the public open space, identify a maintenance model, create a management scheme, monitor and evaluate the condition of the public open space regularly.
