VALORADA capacity building programme
About
Validated Local Risk Actionable Data for Adaptation (VALORADA) empowers European regions and cities to steer the upcoming societal transformation towards sustainable and climate-resilient development. The VALORADA project is in line with the EU's Adaptation Mission aiming at supporting the transformation of 150 European regions to become sustainable and climate-resilient by 2030 through improving access to and usability of climate data, demonstrate systemic transformations and accelerate societal changes.
The VALORADA CBP provides government authorities, businesses, researchers and interested individuals with training activities and collaborative projects to strengthen understanding of Earth observation data and find ways to use them for climate adaptation. Through this programme, we work with individuals and institutions at every level - from first-time users to technical experts of Earth observation data. The CBP is composed of a series of interactive workshops connected to unique users, including the municiplities of Gabrovo and Burgas (Bulgaria), the statutory city of Prerov and Mlada Boleslav (Czechia), the region of Occitania (France), the region of Central Greece (Greece) and the region of Molise (Italy).
This interactive webinar is organised on the occasion of the 12th World Urban Forum (UN-Habitat, 2024). This year's theme is on local actions for sustainable cities and communities, addressing how valuable data drive localised adaptation and ensure regions and cities thrive in a future with unprecedented climate challenges and risks. It aims to bring together experts from academia, business association and local government to discuss how high value datasets can enable regions and cities to adapt to climate change. There will be a Q&A session at the end.
