Disaster risk awareness and preparedness of the EU population: France
The survey on disaster risk awareness in France shows that citizens feel most vulnerable to extreme weather events (40%), followed by cybersecurity threats (28%) and terrorism (26%). French citizens generally display an average level of awareness about disaster risks, appropriate actions to take, and trust in authorities compared to other EU citizens. Their main sources of information come from different levels of media, including national, local, and social media outlets.
This serial survey assesses the awareness of EU citizens about the disaster risks that could affect them, their preparedness to face various disaster risk scenarios, and the reliance they place on a range of actors in disaster situations. The survey also explores the engagement of EU citizens in voluntary work to increase disaster resilience.
