The Fiji cyclone season is between November and April and many of the related organisations and services have been doing months of work in preparation for this.

The Fiji Red Cross Society (FRCS) has been training volunteers and restocking its 36 containers across the country with essential supplies, ready for distribution within 24 to 36 hours after a natural disaster.

Mr Tamanitoakula explained that volunteer training also focuses on caring for the elderly and people with physical and mental challenges.

"Most of our volunteers are present in communities, and we train them on disability care, ensuring that the safety and well-being of people with disabilities and our elderly are well looked after," Mr. Tamanitoakula added.
