15th International Conference of the Integrated Disaster Risk Management Society (IDRiM2025): Advancing disaster risk reduction in islands and remote areas
The 15th International Conference of the Integrated Disaster Risk Management (IDRiM) Society will be held in Samos, Greece from 28 September – 1 October 2025. Themed "Advancing disaster risk reduction in islands and remote areas", the conference will address the unique challenges faced by these regions, including isolation, limited infrastructure, and vulnerability to climate change.
The event will focus on the role of accessibility in disaster prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery, particularly in the context of globalization and the climate crisis. Emphasising implementation science, the conference will explore adaptive, collaborative solutions for disaster risk management. Key topics will include local risk assessment, disaser risk reduction callenges in islands and remote areas, disaster preparedness and response, and the role of governance in strengthening resilience, implementation science, and “Build Back Better”.
IDRiM2025 invites contributions on disaster risk reduction, risk governance, climate adaptation, and the role of private sector investment in enhancing resilience. Special focus will be on islands and remote areas, with opportunities for young scientists to participate in the Young Scientists Day on 23 September 2025.
