About

As India faces increasingly severe extreme heat events, the need for sustainable cooling solutions has become urgent. With urbanization accelerating, cities are struggling to balance rising cooling demand with energy efficiency and climate commitments. District cooling is emerging as a transformative solution by mitigating urban heat islands, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and enhancing energy efficiency in cooling systems.

At the same time, women remain underrepresented in the energy and cooling sectors, despite their immense potential to drive innovation and transformation. In recognition of International Women’s Day, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Cool Coalition in collaboration with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) and Women in District Cooling – India Chapter, are hosting this webinar to explore how district cooling can address India’s growing cooling demands and unlock career opportunities for women in this critical sector. This discussion goes beyond technology to fostering diversity and inclusion, building resilient communities, and positioning sustainable cooling as an essential pillar of urban development.
