About
Cities are navigating digital transformation to address urban challenges and drive innovation through effective governance. Central to this process is the role of data in building climate resilience and fostering a more sustainable urban future. By emphasizing the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration, the session will focus on how cities are cultivating a responsible data culture to leverage emerging technologies like AI, IoT, and big data in public services.
Case studies from Montpellier and Hamburg will provide insights into how different cities are implementing digital governance. Montpellier with its new AI strategy and dedicated citizen convention, engages its community to strengthen urban resilience. Hamburg has institutionalised its digital governance through a dedicated department for IT and digitalisation, forging a centralised system to address digital challenges.
The speakers will address the following guiding questions: How can cities ensure digital transformation supports climate resilience and sustainability? What strategies can cities use to foster a responsible and inclusive data culture? How do emerging technologies like AI, IoT, and big data improve public services and drive innovation in urban environments? What role does stakeholder engagement play in creating smarter, more resilient cities? How can digital governance help integrate new technologies into urban administration effectively?
This event is organised by Climate KIC for the project VALORADA, which received funding from the Horizon Europe Framework Programme under grant agreement No 101112837.
