Certificate
The Program is an interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate program administered within the Department of Urban and Regional Planning. For enrolled graduate students the standard University of Hawaii tuition is applicable which is about 258.00 USD per academic unit. The certificate requires 18 units, 9 of which are in specifically designed courses related to disaster management, and the remainder are credited from related coursework from other departments. These include courses such as volcanology, meteorology, or other hazards related sciences, or emergency care in public health, refugees and forced migration in the school of law. Thus a typical graduate receives an MS or PhD in meteorology (or whatever their “home” discipline is) and a Graduate Certificate in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance. Non-degree students may enroll for the certificate as well, and the tuition rate is the same.
