Description
Academic programme part of the PeriPeri U (Partners Enhancing Resilience for People Exposed to Risk) consortium's academic activities.
This is a postgraduate degree programme for graduates wishing to pursue a career in Disaster Risk Management (DRM). The course is designed for people who will be involved in the DRM work and focuses on front-line management and planning and executing interventions aimed at reducing risk. The programme seeks to equip students with fundamental theoretical knowledge on DRM and best practice, as well as competence in the use of DRM tools. In this program graduates will obtain knowledge and skills to pursue career opportunities in the central government, local government, national and international relief agencies, non-governmental organizations and the private sector in Tanzania. Although the course contains compulsory core learning modules, students can customise the programme according to their field of study and interests.
Educational Objectives
Equip students with the knowledge to:
- Work in the field as DRM professionals in disaster-prone areas and emergency settings.
- Coordinate, manage and facilitate DRM activities.
- Carry out research pertinent to their areas of competence and specialisation in the field of DRM.
- Pursue a career as a consultant working on DRM issues.
- Provide training on DRM.

Admission requirement
Applicants require a second or higher class Bachelors degree or postgraduate diploma in programmes offered by Ardhi University and equivalent qualifications from other recognized academic institutions approved by the Ardhi senate.
