Description
Academic programme part of the PeriPeri U (Partners Enhancing Resilience for People Exposed to Risk) consortium's academic activities.
Disasters are a major public health problem worldwide, causing high levels of illness and death. Uganda faces several natural, manmade and hybrid disasters.
Objectives
The Masters in Public Health programme aims to train and develop the capacity of public health personnel with:
- Knowledge in disaster preparedness, risk reduction and management
- Expertise to manage and implement effective public health-oriented disaster response interventions at programmatic, district, national and international levels
- The capacity to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of disaster responses
- The skills and knowledge to undertake public health-oriented research and training on disaster response

Admission requirement
- A Bachelors degree in the health sciences, such as medicine or nursing, from a recognised institution and at least two years’ relevant field experience
- A degree in the biological sciences, such as food science and technology, human nutrition or environmental health from a recognised institution, and at least two years’ relevant field experience
- A degree in the social sciences, such as: community psychology, SWASA or law, from a recognised institution, and at least two years’ relevant experience
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed prior to selection.
