PhD in disaster and emergency health
Tehran
Ph.D. program of Disaster & Emergency Health is developed by School of Public Health at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in
collaboration with Disaster & Emergency Management Center at the Ministry of Health & Medical Education. The program has accepted
students since 2011 academic year. The program includes four parts:
• Twelve core courses, 22 credits (c) in total, including Disaster management and risk reduction (3c), Man-made disaster (2c), Natural disasters (2c), Disaster risk assessment (2c), Disaster epidemiology and metrics (2c), Pre-hospital and hospital disaster planning (2c), Public health in disasters (2c), Environmental health in emergencies (2c), Communicable disease emergency management (2c), Community-based disaster management (1c), Incident management system (1c) and Seminar 1c).
• Elective courses, 6c in total from the following courses: Health economy in disasters (2c), Health geography and GIS (1c), Pre-hospital and hospital emergency management (2c), Nutrition in emergencies (1c), Reproductive health in emergencies (1c), Psycho-social support in disasters (2c), Disaster risk communication (1c), International humanitarian assistance (1c), Information management and technology in disasters (1c), Disaster nursing (2c), Qualitative research (2c), Logistic system management in disasters (1c), Strategic planning and management (2c).
• Field training course (2c).
• Research-based thesis (20c)
