Position Description
The Applications Development Specialist shall support RIMES Systems Development and Research Unit in developing state-of-the-art applications to meet various demands from RIMES Member States and their stakeholders. He/She shall also involve actively in ongoing application development/ customization activities. These include development of web-based data visualization and management portal, troubleshooting/ resolving software application issues, modifications in existing applications to meet changing user requirements, documentation, and system design and functional specifications for new projects.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge:
Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field; extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications; strong technical knowledge of systems networking, databases, and web development
Experience:
At least 4 years experience in web-based application development in any standard platform; experience in database design (MySQL, Microsoft SQL, or Access); experience in Microsoft.Net, Visual Basic, HTML, PHP, Perl, shell; adequate experience in various Linux/Unix distribution platforms
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability; English proficiency in communication, presentation, and report writing
Personal Qualities:
Self-motivated, with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities; flexibility and ability to work hard independently and in a team; ability to work in a high-pressure on-call environment
