A full-time position as Assistant Professor is available at the Department of Public Health, Global Health Section, University of Copenhagen, starting on 1 November 2018 or as soon as possible hereafter.  The position is limited to 4 years.

The position

The position’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication, and teaching with associated examination obligations within one or several of the following areas: prevention and management of communicable and non-communicable diseases in humanitarian settings; mental health and psycho-social support in humanitarian settings; reproductive health and gender based violence in humanitarian settings; refugee health;  health systems and disease outbreak control in humanitarian settings; strengthening health systems and services following a natural disaster or conflict; and health intervention research in a humanitarian setting. 

Qualifications 

  • PhD or similar qualifications in medicine, public health, global health, health related social sciences or associated fields 
  • Co-authored articles in international peer reviewed journals within one or several of the above mentioned areas  
  • Documented research project management experience within one or several of the above mentioned areas considered an advantage 
  • Field research experience from low or middle income countries considered an advantage 
  • Field experience in the area of humanitarian coordination and action is considered an asset  
  • Teaching experience including online learning approaches at university level an advantage  
  • Be enterprising and possess good interpersonal skills 
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)  

Employment conditions

Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organizations. In addition to the seniority-based salary, the appointee will receive an annual supplement of currently DKK 49.300 and additional bonuses may be negotiated on an individual basis. 

During your employment as Assistant Professor, participation in the formal pedagogical training program for assistant professors is expected.
