We have an ideal opportunity for an Associate Project Manager who will be responsible for coordination of program management, projects, and reporting of activities related to wildland/urban interface fire safety and related Wildland Fire Operations Division programs and initiatives. Specific focus of this position is education and outreach to children and youth related to wildfire safety, prevention, and mitigation.

Principal responsibilities

• Performs research and gathers information and documentation on activities related to child and youth outreach for wildland/urban interface fire safety. 
• Writes, reviews, and develops educational materials, and identifies best methods for distribution of the information on the internet and/or for publication by Firewise Communities, Fire Adapted Communities, NFPA, and other media.
• Prepares, edits, and produces reports and planning documents, periodicals and related materials.
• Makes presentations, communicates and interacts with related professionals, partners, and associated organizations.
• Coordinates with other stakeholders in seeking input and direction for child and youth outreach for wildland/urban interface fire safety.
• Represents NFPA at trade exhibits, conferences, and meeting of stakeholder organizations and businesses.
• Assists in the planning, preparation, and monitoring of budgets related to assigned responsibilities.
• Manages and coordinates various projects and programs related to the Divisions long-range work plan. 

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree and related certification or licensing in a related field or equivalent in education or curriculum development.
• 3 to 5 years of related experience or in increasingly responsible roles.
• Familiarity with child and youth education, outreach and advocacy is preferred.
• A general understanding of wildland fire safety issues and fire behavior is preferred.
• Proven project management experience and excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and writing skills are important.
