Summary

The Associate Vice President of Humanitarian Response will be responsible for leading and implementing Save the Children’s strategy to become the pre-eminent humanitarian response non-profit organization for children globally.

Responsibilities

- Lead Save the Children US (SCUS) cross-departmental humanitarian response thematic result working group to develop and execute the 2012-2015 humanitarian response strategy
- Lead and manage the DHR team
- Proactively engage and support the success of the Save the Children International (SCI) humanitarian response strategy, including supporting a continued robust SCUS role
- Continue to build the capacity of the Agency to effectively respond to emergencies and promote continuous process improvement
- Coordinate the overall Agency strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction globally.

Requirements

- Masters required
- At least 15 years’ experience in global humanitarian emergency response
- Proven Experience leading strategy development
- Deep cross functional/cross business unit knowledge and experience
- Ability to identify, attract and select and develop high caliber staff
- Familiarity with programmatic content/issues in the development/relief arena, including knowledge of major funding sources
- Proven ability to expand and diversify portfolios
