CARE International is one of the three biggest aid agencies in the world. Reaching more than 65 million people in over 70 countries, our aim is to create long-lasting and sustainable change for the world’s most vulnerable people.

Climate Change is a strategic priority for CARE International and at the top of its global advocacy agenda. A large and growing number of CARE offices are engaged in Climate Change initiatives and are working together through its thriving Poverty, Environment and Climate Change Network (PECCN).

CARE International UK is looking to recruit a Climate Change Advisor to lead its work in this area. With a primary focus on adaptation, the Advisor will lead on managing existing projects and developing funding proposals for new initiatives as well as providing support to integrate climate change into existing and planned programmes and strategies. The role will involve networking and policy engagement in the UK with all such work closely linked into the work of the CARE International Poverty, Environment and Climate Change Network (PECCN).

Much initial focus will be on Latin America and therefore an ability to work in Spanish and/or Portuguese is required, though there are major opportunities for work, particularly in Africa, as well as other regions where CARE is operational.

You will have experience of developing, implementing and effectively monitoring and evaluating field-based programmes relevant to climate change adaptation. You will also have a proven ability in using programmatic analysis to help develop policy influencing, campaigning and wider communications work. You will need excellent communications and networking skills.
