Background

The MRCS Communication officer for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) will be in charge of all internal and external communication tools and events towards risk reduction initiatives, which will be implemented under the 5 years MRCS/FRC Disaster Risk Reduction Coastal Area program. The MRCS Communication officer for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) will also assist the DRR teams in all issues related to risk perception and risk acceptance of the audience targeted. The MRCS Disaster Risk Reduction coastal program Coordinator will work in closed coordination with the FRC DRR program coordinator and their respective team. The MRCS Communication officer for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) will be also the main link between the DRR unit and the existing MRCS communication division for any communication activities

Duties and Responsibilities


• Collect all sectoral reports.
• Collect pieces of information worthy of note from various coordination meetings.
• Produce reports, fact sheets and other relevant documents before deadlines.
• Accompany sectoral teams whenever there is an opportunity and put records of it.
• Assist with evaluation and promotion of the operation and its achievements through supporting the
development of (human interest) stories and reports as well as collecting pictures of the operational
work.
• Interpret at meetings and translate documents.
• Submit weekly, monthly progress report including field visit report as appropriate.
• Regularly report to Assistant Recovery Coordinator in field and Recovery Coordinator in Yangon on
progress of work and encountered difficulties/challenges.
• Perform other tasks duty assign by Supervisor.

Qualifications and requirements

• University degree.
• Minimum (2) years of experience in working within the social and/or NGO environment.
• Effective both Myanmar and English Language skills (Written and Oral).
• Ability to translate Myanmar to English and English to Myanmar.
• Very good interpersonal skills and cultural and politico-social sensitivity.
• Computer literacy and good knowledge of power point presentation use and application.
• Good in training, facilitating and presentation skills.
• Working, at times, under tight deadlines.
• Interest in learning about the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
• Humanity Impartiality Neutrality Independence Voluntary Service Unity Universality
• Ability to work effective and harmoniously in a team.
• Positive attitude towards learning & sharing
