About the role

The overall purpose of this consultancy is to provide a baseline for a Disaster Risk Reduction Education program in Vanuatu. The current program has the goal “to promote a replicable education model which will improve access to quality Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) education, ensuring children and families are better prepared to respond to disasters.”

The specific objective of the consultancy is to:


• Design and oversee the writing of curriculum material and accompanying teacher training guides to test the model for DRR education.

Timing

• It is expected writing of resources will be completed by Friday 30th April 2012 requiring approximately 30 days to complete.

• The consultant will be supported by the Save the Children Education in Emergencies Project Manager.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have minimum skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas:

• Experience in curriculum & education resource development
• Experience in teacher training and professional development
• Ability to develop age appropriate learning materials
• Experience working in the Pacific in a Melanesian context
