The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), established in 1986, is a regional non-profit foundation with headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand supporting the advancement of safer communities and sustainable development, through implementing programs that reduce the impact of disasters upon countries and communities in Asia and the Pacific. The primary geographical focus of ADPC’s activities is Asia with the South, South East and East Asia being the primary sub-regions.

ADPC has more than 30 years of working experience in Asia along with the national and local Government of its charter member countries as well as countries of the Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) on Disaster Management. ADPC works to build preparedness at all levels, from regional, to national, sub-national and even to individual communities. Further details on ADPC and its programs can be found here

The ADPC with support from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) has been the ‘Asian Preparedness Partnership’ (APP), which is a unique multi-stakeholder partnership was formed with representation from the Government, Local Humanitarian Networks and Private Sector Networks from the six countries, namely, Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines and Sri Lanka. The APP strives to improve the interface and partnership between Government, Local Humanitarian Organizations and the Private Sector for enhancing capacities through partnerships, knowledge resources and south-south exchange, training, and networking opportunities. To support Asian Preparedness Partnership in South-South learning, knowledge management, communications, content writing, documentation, web portal and social media management.

Required Qualifications/ Selection Criteria:

  • University graduate in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or other relevant fields;

  • Desired work experience in communication and documentation field

  • Excellent English writing and editing skills;

  • Knowledge and experience of content writing for website, editorials, publications etc.

  • Proven experience in social media management and creating campaigns;

  • Knowledge of developing videos/multimedia production and graphics;

  • Knowledge of Mail Chimp

  • Excellent computer skills, especially skills in operating the Ms. Office (word-processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software).

  • Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills; ability to work with a team in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Strong desire to learn; undertake new challenges; must have self-confidence; a willingness to work hard with quality and excellence of work.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design & implement knowledge exchange tools, products, and protocols including but not limited to web portals, social media, online discussion fora, etc.

  • Manage and implement APP e-learning course for enrolment and promotion of course.

  • Manage and promote APP Practitioners roster and its usability within APP.

  • Conduct research on regional knowledge sharing networks/institutions and provide active support in initiating south-south learning exchange and knowledge management among and between the networks and partnerships.

  • Develop and design creative content including infographics for documents and publications.

  • Develop well-researched web articles, editorials, newsletter and related communication content for portal.

  • Create regular and engaging content and campaigns for social media channels.

  • Writing and editing documents and other related promotional material.

  • Assist in video production with knowledge of camera techniques and recording skills.

  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the Manager/Director of PRR from time to time.
