The communications arm of SEEDS is currently searching for a Deputy Content Writer to join the team. If you’re a quick learner with excellent writing skills and a drive to work in the humanitarian sector, then SEEDS would love to hear from you.

Background

Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (SEEDS) is a non-profit organization focused on Disaster Risk Reduction. The communication department handles various work for humanitarian/development causes. Work covers a wide range of print, electronic and interactive product development; with clients that have included UNICEF, IFRC and Plan, among others. SEEDS works on information during emergencies, public awareness and advocacy, documentation and evaluations. This is done through a storytelling approach and a learning focus. The stories are told in different ways; through words, through images, through video, through infographics and through innovative design. Often innovative knowledge-based communications are used to help the humanitarian sector spark positive change.

What communication department does?

  • Research and develop engaging and innovative content for newsletters, case studies, reports, videos and various other collaterals
  • Edit and proof-read across media
  • Work closely with designers to conceptualise ideas and storyboards
  • Help translate complex concepts into simple material
  • Travel to project sites or during emergencies

What is expected from the deputy content writer?

  • B.A/ M.A in English, communications, journalism (or related humanities fields)
  • Excellent writing and communications skills in English; knowledge of Hindi is an added advantage
  • Sharp editing and proof-reading eye
  • Quick learner who can write on diverse topics for diverse audiences
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
  • A team player with the ability to work independently
  • 2-3 years of work experience is desirable
