Disaster reduction specialists - Australian civilian corps register

The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) is seeking highly motivated and experienced specialists to join the Australian Civilian Corps (ACC) register. The ACC is, in essence, a civilian “reserve” that can be used to help restore or rebuild basic services, capability and capacity in countries experiencing or emerging from natural disaster or conflict.
The ACC register has more than 400 specialists in a range of disciplines including health, education, aid coordination and public sector management.
This year AusAID are targeting disaster risk reduction specialists to join the ACC register. These specialists will have experience in:
- strengthening a community’s ability to respond to and cope with a disaster
- helping the transition between relief, recovery and development
- principles of “Build Back Better” in recovery and reconstruction
- hazard and risk mapping, flood protection and safe building practices
- evacuation planning and livelihood diversification
- coordinating multi-stakeholder input into managing and mitigating risk to prevent or reduce the impact of disasters.
Eligibility requirements
You must:
- be an Australian citizen
- have at least five years experience in your specialist field
- have relevant and substantial field experience
- have a current Australian Government security clearance to Negative Vet 1 or be willing to obtain one
- have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional accreditation
