International humanitarian organization is seeking a regional disaster risk reduction officer
The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Officer has the responsibility of supporting the DRR Program objectives oriented to scaling up disaster risk reduction and community risk reduction programmes and activities of the 10 Members in South America, especially those aimed at developing the institutional capacities to deliver more effectively the Global Agenda goals, helping local communities reduce their vulnerability to risk through a comprehensive and integrated approach, with a strong focus to the XVIII Inter-American Plan of Action and the Hyogo Framework for Action.
Part of main tasks:
· Support the Regional DRR Programme on planning, implementing and monitoring annual and biannual plans of action, in compliance with established procedures, and suggest improvements that could be implemented to make the program more efficient.
· Enhance the level of coordination and program implementation with the organization technical areas, such as OD, Health, Principles and Values and Disaster Response, in promoting, developing and supporting disaster risk reduction initiatives and more especially community based integrated programs.
Job Requirements:
· University degree in social sciences, international relations, political sciences, engineering, geography or related field.
· Proven experience in community disaster preparedness.
· Experience within NGOs or other non-profit organizations in project cycle management with emphasis in logical framework application as a must.
· Ability to work in a team, and to work under pressure; willingness and availability to travel throughout the South American region; excellent oral communication skills (English and Spanish), including tact and diplomacy.
· Knowledge of computer systems relevant to the position.
· Full time & immediate available.
Main task:
Provide technical assistance to the Disaster Risk Reduction Programme in South America in planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting the Program.
