Work with people against poverty! Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK) is a member of Oxfam International (OI) and an independent development and relief agency based in Hong Kong. We are looking for the following staff member to join our anti-poverty work:
S/He is responsible for programme development and strategy formulation in the key area of Climate Risk Management (CRM), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Sustainable Livelihoods, provide capacity building support to OHK colleagues and partners, and develop and implement advocacy plans and strategies on specific issues, as identified in the agency and Unit plans. S/he also has to undertake monitoring and evaluation, develop and manage partnerships with regional organizations, provide advice to OHK and OI, make grants, provide humanitarian advocacy support to OHK field staff and offices.
The successful candidate MUST meet the following requirements:
- A recognized degree, preferably in climate science/climate change, with solid work experience in Climate Risk Management and Disaster Risk Reduction.
- Practical experience in strategic planning and budgeting, programme designing, monitoring and evaluation of CRM/DRR projects/programmes, advocacy and working with partners
- Understanding of technical policy issues related to climate change and DRR, ability to demystify technical policy related issues to programmes and have a full grasp of the policy issues/ developments at hand.
- Ability to develop curriculum and materials and conduct training
- Good knowledge of CRM/DRR networks in the Asia region and globally
- Ability to travel extensively and work in remote areas
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, independently and with a diverse team
- Excellent written English required in writing reports, proposals and project documents
This position will be based in Hong Kong without expatriate package provided.
