EnCompass LLC is seeking an International Relief and Resiliency (R&R) Specialist to provide subject matter expertise for an assessment of a portfolio of grants which support community-based disaster risk reduction projects in disaster prone regions worldwide. The R&R Specialist will be an integrated member of a small assessment team and contribute his/her expertise in and experiences designing, implementing and/or evaluating programs addressing community-based disaster risk reduction, community resilience and emergency relief, and climate change adaptation. The R&R Specialist will inform team members on the most current research, evaluation approaches, and learning activities of the international relief and resilience community. The R&R Specialist may also facilitate learning sessions engaging grantees and donors working in international community-based disaster risk reduction. This is a short-term, consultancy position. Work is anticipated to take place between January and June 2015. No international travel is anticipated.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in relevant subject area, such as in international development, humanitarian assistance and relief, economics, public policy or other relevant fields
• Minimum of 5 years experience and demonstrated subject matter expertise in international relief, resilience, community based disaster risk reduction, vulnerable populations, and climate change adaptation
• Current knowledge of the international relief and resilience community
• Excellent written and oral communication and outstanding interpersonal skills
• Experience providing technical assistance to grantees and working with and presenting to foundations and donors desired
• Regional experience in Africa, Asia and/or Latin America desired
• Fluency in English required
