UCL IRDR and UCL Statistical Sciences are now recruiting a Lecturer in Risk Analysis, which will be a joint appointment between both departments.

The post is open-ended and is available from 1 January 2018.

Duties and responsibilities

The post-holder will be expected to pursue research of international quality that enhances, complements and/or extends current activity in the Department of Statistical Science and the Institute for Risk & Disaster Reduction (IRDR). The post-holder should aim to maximise the impact of their research and transfer of knowledge and engage with policy makers and practitioners, in particular taking advantage of London’s unique position as a global hub in finance, health, consulting, engineering and humanitarian assistance. The post-holder will be expected to take on managerial responsibilities in the IRDR and to contribute to teaching courses in the IRDR and the Department of Statistical Science.

Key requirements

The successful candidate should hold, or be about to hold, a PhD or equivalent qualification in mathematics or statistics or a relevant discipline. They will possess a high research profile which includes a track record of international research excellence and publishing in quantitative risk analysis, and the ambition to become a leader in the field. The appointee should have the ability to construct and deliver lecture courses on topics relevant to the needs of the Department and the IRDR and possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
