The Myanmar Country Coordinator is responsible for exploring possibilities and coordinating IIRR activities in Myanmar. Reporting directly to the Director of the Regional Center for Asia, the post holder builds the profile of IIRR by introducing the organization to and building relationship with government agencies, non-government and civil society organization, UN agencies and other institutions relevant to IIRR work.

Key responsibilities

1. Markets IIRR training courses and writeshops to other NGOs in Myanmar
2. Participates in the conceptualization and design of projects for grant funding and provides relevant data and information needed for project proposals
3. Identifies opportunities for the country program in terms of the IIRR global programs in food security, disaster risk reduction and education in the country;
4. Represents IIRR in relevant inter-agency or multi-sectoral meetings, forums, etc.
5. Introduces IIRR and establish links with relevant national government agencies
6. Gathers and compiles available secondary data and information (e.g. needs assessments, baseline studies, MDG status reports, etc.) from different sources (government, NGOs, UN agencies)
7. Coordinates with IIRR partners in the country and identifies potential partners for its field programs in Myanmar.
8. Identify opportunities for resources/fundraising for field projects/programs in Myanmar.
9. Monitors the successful implementation of IIRR activities in the country
10. Supports regional activities such as country program development and applied learning activities (international trainings, study programs, technical missions) when conducted and organized in Myanmar

Requirements

• A degree in Sociology, Rural Development, Agriculture or other related discipline; master’s or PhD degree preferred;
• At least five (5) years of training experience in rural development with international development agencies;
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in program development and management in comparable post;
• Is flexible and can work under minimum supervision;
• Have extensive networking and partnership development skills and experience;
• Proven track record in proposal writing and fundraising;
• Have training and facilitation skills and is knowledgeable of various participatory tools;
• Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills in English and Myanmar languages;
• Have a good level of understanding of Myanmar’s development issues and context;
• Can effectively work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural work environment and is a team player.
• Computer proficient and uses various applications.
• Have the necessary permits and qualifications to work in Myanmar.
