Under the overall authority of the Deputy Regional Director, and the direct supervision of the the head of the EPR Team, the incumbent will perform the following tasks, in collaboration with other staff at regional and/or office level and/or with other partner agencies.
Description:
- Responsible for overall programme management which includes implementation and monitoring of emergency and recovery programmes and activities in the region.
- Develop and sustain liaison with key professionals and NGOs engaged in the field of emergency preparedness and foor security.
- Oversee preparation and dissemination of timely analytical and critical reports including proposals for improvements in operation and the scope of programmes.
- Contribute to the management of information for emergency preparedness and related activities.
- Manage the ODD regional early warning matrix and identify potential hazards, estimating their magnitudes and impact on food security in collaboration with concerned units in the Regional Burau (RB). Country Offices (COs), WFP/Rome and UN system.
- Participate actively to the EPR team's contingency planning and emergeny preparedness missions.
- Follow-up with Country Offices the preparation and the updating of Emergency Preparedness and Response Package for recurrent or potential emergencies.
- Assist COs in reviewing Inter-Agency and National Contingency Plans and recommend technical support activities.
- Coordinate/consolidate EPR Unit comments on WFP project documents and CERF/Flash Appeals/Consolidated Appeals.
- Participate, whenever required, in Emergency Need Assesment and Joint Assessment missions.
Expected results:
- Well prepared, analytical work; well managed projects, programmes and/or operations.
Education:
- University degree in one or more of the following disciplines: economics, agriculture, statistics, social sciences, development studies or a field relevant to international development assistance.
Working experience:
- At least three years of post-graduate professional experience in development or food aid support. Experience in humanitarian assistance, emergency preparedness and response, disaster mitigation, contigency planning, early warning, food needs assesments and logistics managment will be a plus.
Working languages:
- French and English.
