Workforce Humanity gives entry-level humanitarian workers the opportunity to gain international field experience through an internship with an NGO. Interns work with our NGO partners in Africa and Asia for approximately six months to improve the technical expertise of the skills on the ground. We believe in local development through capacity building of NGOs so that we can empower their representatives and our interns by helping to develop technical expertise, strategic capacity, and enable better responses to the needs of beneficiaries.

Our partner in Kampong Speu is looking for a Nutrition Program Officer to support their work.

The Role:

The incumbent will support nutrition program management, ensuring that the proper processes are in place and are being utilized.

Nutrition Programming

  • Advise on program implementation modalities (targeting criteria, mobilization, local partnerships, participant training, staffing, etc.) in coordination with supervisor
  • Identify training needs and plan, develop, conduct, and supervise training of internal and external nutrition staff members in line with national nutrition protocols
  • Improve planning and coordination of current and possible new projects
  • Assess the needs of identified locations with local authorities and health personnel (human resources, material, and/or training needs; rehabilitation, etc.)
  • Evaluate the relevance and appropriateness of current and future programming in relation to nutrition, food security and livelihoods in the local context

Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Develop project monitoring, including participatory methods, progress reporting, review of stated indicators, program adherence to methodology, budget expenditure, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for assessments, research or publication related to ongoing programming, particularly disaster risk reduction (DDR)
  • Contribute to developing concept papers and proposals for prospective donors
  • Participate in updating the nutrition strategy, in addition to the larger country strategy to which it contributes

Representation

  • Represent the organization externally and collaborate with government authorities, NGOs, and donors
  • Ensure that all relevant stakeholders have information about the organization’s background, program, objectives, working areas, duration of programs and activities in the field
  • Promote and reinforce relationship with district and province technical authorities
  • Ensure correct MOUs are in place with relevant district/province stakeholders

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Degree in Nutrition Science, or other relevant training
  • A high level of analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills is essential
  • Experience in facilitation and training would be an asset
  • Organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes
  • Able to work collaboratively to achieve stated goals
