The DFID-funded WISER (Weather & Climate Information Services for Africa) Kenya ‘Coastal resilience and improved services for potato production' (CRISPP) project has published three new funding opportunities. Funds are available for a project delivery partner, communications expert, and monitoring & evaluation specialist. The deadlines are 24 July 2018.
Call 1: Delivery partner for a national project for Kenya: ‘Enhancing access to weather and climate information for Kenya’s coastal region’
The role of the supplier will be to facilitate interactions between providers and users of weather and climate information that supports both the production of climate information service plans for the project counties, and serves to enhance the range and reach of forecasting products available to communities in Kenya’s coastal region. As well as working closely with KMD and end users to co-produce these services, they will provide logistical support to the County Directors of Meteorology (CDMs) in the four project counties to undertake novel activities and additional duties as supported by WISER funds.

Call 2: Monitoring and evaluation support for a national project for Kenya: ‘Enhancing access to weather and climate information for Kenya’s coastal region’
The role of the supplier will be to support the project in conducting a series of monitoring and evaluation activities to track changes in the reach and impact of weather and climate information services enhanced or developed by the project. They will be working closely with KMD, the Met Office and end users to facilitate participatory monitoring and evaluation approaches that highlight and document good practice on access, understanding, use and benefits of climate information services.

Call 3: Communications expert for a national project in Kenya: 'Enhancing access to weather and climate information for Kenya's coastal region'
One of the key outputs for the project will be to extend and improve upon the relevance, reach and impact of KMD’s forecasts to the coastal region. This will aim to utilise a range of the services developed in Western Kenya during WISER Phase 1, but also develop a discrete set of products that can be delivered by CDMs at the county level, and which respond directly to the distinctive and identified needs of livelihood groups in that region.
