The International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) is committed to contribute in the development of Myanmar. IIRR is building its country presence and program in Myanmar pursuing programs on food security, resilient livelihoods and rural development. The Program Coordinator is responsible for exploring possibilities and coordinating IIRR activities in Myanmar. Reporting directly to the Country Program Manager, the post holder will build the profile of IIRR in Myanmar by introducing the organization to and building relationship with government agencies, non-government and civil society organizations, UN agencies and other institutions relevant to IIRR work.

Key responsibilities

  • Promote IIRR Programs and services such as international and in-country training courses and writeshops to other NGOs and other target groups in Myanmar
  • Represent IIRR in relevant inter-agency or multi-sectoral meetings, forums and government offices to build partnerships for IIRR field programs
  • Together with the Country Program Manager, designs and conducts training courses and technical assistance to partner agencies in Myanmar
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for resource mobilization/fundraising for field projects/programs on food security and resilient livelihoods in Myanmar
  • Conducts desk research and field research in Myanmar to strengthen program development and proposal preparation
  • Collaborate with IIRR program teams in the conceptualization, design and writing of project proposals for grant funding and resource mobilization
  • Monitors the successful implementation of IIRR activities in the country
  • Supports regional activities such as country program development and applied learning activities (international trainings, study programs, technical missions) when conducted and organized in Myanmar

Requirements

  • A degree in Sociology, Rural Development, Agriculture, Business Management or other related discipline; master’s degree preferred but not required
  • Has extensive skills and knowledge in networking, marketing and partnership development in the context of Myanmar
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in program development, partnership building, marketing and promoting NGO programs
  • Experience in training and facilitation skills and is knowledgeable of various participatory tools;
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills in English and Myanmar languages;
  • Have a good level of understanding of Myanmar’s development issues and context;
  • Effective team player and values innovative approaches to program development and implementation
  • Computer proficient and uses various office applications such as word processing, presentation and spreadsheet.
