Background

ACF has been working in Bangladesh since 2007. Currently, ACF is working across 5 thematic sectors: nutrition, livelihoods and food security, mental health and care practices, WASH, DRR and emergency preparedness and response. Regarding DRR, ACF focuses on: Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction program, gender and protection, DRR and livelihoods at households’ level.

Objective

To identify and implement high quality Disaster Risk Reduction activities which are appropriate and comprehensive, in conformity with overarching strategy and the standards set internationally, by ACF and by national policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to deliberations on strategy and the positioning of the DRR Department
  • Identifying needs and contributing to project elaboration
  • Setting up, implementing and reporting on DRR program
  • Contributing to the quality, accountability and impact measurement process of his/her program
  • Participating in the coordination, representation and partnerships of ACF in his/her area of intervention
  • Supervising and managing the team
  • Contributing to capitalization and technical development in his/her sector
  • Developing advocacy and networking

Qualification and previous experience:

Post-graduate diploma in Disaster Risk Management, International Relations, Social Sciences and/or Development studies. This position requires at least 5 years of professional experience in project cycle management/coordination, including 3 years of managing DRR programs. A previous experience of managing DIPECHO program is an asset. Applicants must demonstrate a clear understanding of community based disaster preparedness and/or school based disaster preparedness. Excellent interpersonal and training skills are requested, as well as a proven ability to network and work in close relationship with partners. Fluent English (oral and written) is compulsory.

Status:

Volunteer status for applicants with less than 24 months of humanitarian experience

  • All expenses paid on the field: travel out/return, collective accommodation, meals and hygiene expenses
  • € 838 of indemnities per month on your bank account + Allowance of € 200 per month paid on the mission
  • Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance provided by the institution
  • Acquisition of 2.5 days of paid leaves per entirely worked month
  • Recovery time breaks of one week every 2 or 4 months depending on the mission + break allowances
  • Pre departure training of two weeks, at the HQ in Paris


Program Managers with at least 24 months of humanitarian experience, Coordinators and Heads of Mission

  • Total average yearly gross income: from 39360 € to 43860 €
  • Food and housing: 1000 € / month average
  • Per Diem : 210 € / month average
  • Support to the R & R costs : 110 € / month average
  • Transportation costs to and from the mission : 460 € / month average
  • 25 days of annual paid leaves and 20 days of R & R per year (taken as recovery time breaks of one week every 2 or 4 months depending on the mission)
  • Accompanied position (partner, children) according to the place of assignment
  • Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance provided by the institution
  • Training before departure and all along the career with Action Contre la Faim.
