Job description


The GOI-UNDP DRR programme is envisaged to support Central and State Government programmes and initiatives by providing critical inputs that would enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the efforts in Disaster Risk Reduction. The programme strives to strengthen the institutional structure to undertake Disaster Risk Reduction activities at various levels including risks being enhanced due to climate change and develop preparedness for recovery. The USAID-UNDP Climate Risk Management in Urban Areas through Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation project has been approved recently with total resource allocation of US$ 1,215,000 over a period of three years covering six cities with two main objectives to (1) reduce disaster risk in urban areas by enhancing institutional capacities to integrate climate risk reduction measures in development programmes as well as to undertake mitigation activities based on scientific analysis; and (2) enhance community capacities to manage climate risk in urban areas.

Qualifications

Post Graduate degree in Social Sciences, Geography, Environment, Economics, Management or relevant disciplines
