The project objective is to increase resilience and reduce risks associated with natural hazards in vulnerable areas and to contribute to the sustainable development of Jamaica. This will be achieved through rehabilitating watersheds, improving coastal ecosystems management and building climate change capacity and awareness as articulated in Vision 2030 Jamaica – National Development Plan. It is a joint venture of the Government of Jamaica (GOJ), the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Job Summary
The Project Manager is expected to coordinate the activities across the four implementing agencies. He/she will be responsible for providing technical input into project implementation and overall management and supervision of the project. He/she will manage and provide overall supervision for the Project Management Unit (PMU) including the Administrative Assistant.
The incumbent is required to possess:
- a Master’s degree (with five years’ relevant experience) or a Bachelor’s degree (with seven years’ relevant experience) in the Social Sciences (management studies, business administration, environmental economics); natural resource, environmental management or a related discipline
- at least 3 years’ experience in project implementation of similar scope project
- training or certification in project management; and
- the ability to use Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Knowledge and understanding of climate change issues; exposure to UNEP or EU reporting procedures/standards; and working experience in the Caribbean would be of distinct advantage.
